Supporting the development of a new venture in an untapped market: helicopters leasing in Russia
Vostok helicopter leasing company (VHLC), is an off-shore registered, Russian-based company mainly supported by Airbus helicopters vostok (ex-eurocopter vostok), the world’s leading helicopter manufacturer.
Aviamediatech’s mission was divided into different strategic phases:
The first phase was an overall strategic analysis containing a market and opportunity analysis, operational and customer requirements, a market segmentation and a value proposition.
Two primary target markets for the new venture were identified: oil and gas operators and VIP operators (mainly targeting high-net-worth individuals). The new venture had a first mover advantage on the helicopter leasing market in Russia at a time when demand for helicopter transportation was exploding. Its privileged access to a complete range of reliable and cost-efficient Eurocopter/Airbus helicopters was its second competitive advantage. Behind the Eurocopter/Airbus helicopter Vostok brand name, access to a trustworthy maintenance network also offered VHLC a strong and unique advantage.
Upon completion of the first phase, the business plan of a new helicopter leasing venture was drafted, including a business model, revenue & cost drivers, as well as resource & funding requirements
In April 2006, AviaMediaTech’s mission was successfully completed: an €80M business plan was launched in line with the initial schedule and a professional management team was established to manage the company, with support and high interest from its cornerstone investors.
